"He seased to crawl and sat up, pushing back his hood so he could see around him. As far as he could see lay fields of snowgrass, white and shining. There were groves of white trees, with white leaves growing on them. The sun shone, and it was windless, and everything was white."

Ursula Kroeber Le Guin, "The Left Hand of Darkness"

Wow. This is stunning. I've just started to experiment with printmaking and monotypes and such, the the things that people can do with them leave me in awe.

Lovely monotype once again! But I'd be lying if I said it didn't make me miss my print studio :C

How did you create all those lovely almost glacial patterns? Flash oil?

All of your Left Hand of Darkness pieces are fantastic. I'm in love with them. The technique is fantastic (leaving me wonder "Gah how was that done?!") and they beautifully capture the mood of the novel. Really amazing :D

I was so entranced by your work, I decided to do a little bit of research monotypes just to see how they were done. Your technique is so unique :D It sounds like such a spontaneous way to work.

Thank you for the compliments! :blushes:

If you became interested in monotype, I want to give you a link to the site of the St.Petersburg's society of monotype lovers (erm... I hope I translated it correctly ^^;). It is in Russian, but you can look through the gallery folder - [link] - and see the works of other artists, who draw using monotype method. I also feel like giving credits to Arina Daur - [link] - the head of our society - who had actually first applied the method that I use. I was inspired by her works, and started making my own, only using watercolour instead of gouashe, as she did.
