The Lord of Waters by DappleHack The Lord of Waters by DappleHack
"Then Tuor bowed in reverence, for it seemed to him that he beheld a mighty king.(...) In this manner the Dweller of the Deep, whom the Noldor name Ulmo, Lord of Waters,
showed himself to Tuor son of Huor of the House of Hador beneath Vinyamar. "
- J.R.R.Tolkien, The Silmarillion

Watercolour monotype.

this is awe-inspiring. I LOVE how you took the concept of Ulmo and made him a figure and a force in one. Great job!

One of the best paintings I have ever seen. I love how it looks like random color splashes at first glance and then you find beautifully drawn details in it.... Just great!

I love this! One of the few visions of Ulmo which seemed actually majestic to me instead of cringe-induciing. Beautiful work. Beautiful conception.

It's incredible! If it's blurry, then as far as I can tell that only added to the unworldlyness of it.

This is brilliant! How do you manage to get such effects with watercolour? My watercolours always look too pale.
(By the way, Ulmo is my favourite of all the Valar)

This is very different from other pictures of Ulmo. I think it's difficult to draw a god not too "earthly" or "realistic". At least it is a god. But you got it very right here in my opinion. Ulmo has something abstract here. I like it! Keep on!
